My name is Karen, I grew up between Presque Isle Maine and Clearwater, Florida. I live in Michigan now on a 10 acre farm with my husband Ron who is 62 yrs old and a PhD/Rph and we have 5 children but my 2 oldest daughters live with there dad in Florida. I have a few different jobs, most important job by far is my job/role as wife and stay at home mother. I work as a freelance writer for the local newspaper and I have been a volunteer for a non-profit organization for the last 3 yrs. I also write book reviews for Amazon, Barnes & Noble and iTunes. The Non-profit I work for is LostNMissing Inc. We work with law enforcement and the families and friends of missing people to help locate them.
I have wanted to start a blog for quite some time, I have stumbled across many blogs, some are interesting some not so much but each one is unique. I like the idea that I can post my thoughts or recount details from my life and possibly connect with like minded people who can appreciate what I have to share. Here is a bit of a recount in pictures of the last few years...
We have moved from suburbia, a house my husband had built in 2005. We sold this house to a great family who was the perfect fit for what we wanted in the people who would be living in a home we had so many great memories in.
After trading in that dream for new one, a place our children can run free, have animals, make forts, fish our own pond and grow up adventurous and outdoorsy we ended up here....
So what have I been up to the last few years?
I have won an award from the president for my volunteer work...
I have got my VAT Certification from the Dept. of Justice for Victims Assistance Training to help me in my volunteer position....
I got my first paid writing job for the local paper....
I bought my first of 40 chickens and sold my first dozen eggs, these chicks grew FAST from this....
To this...
I have made new friends, learned many things about life on a farm and educated myself about things like GMO's and sustainability. I have lots more to learn but so far this journey has been amazing!
